University Governance

The Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of Huntington University, exercising fiduciary oversight and strategic leadership in faithful support of the University’s Christ-centered mission.

Founded by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University maintains a vital and enduring relationship with its denominational heritage. Several trustees are appointed through the Church’s Higher Education Leadership Team, reflecting this historic partnership. The Board ensures that the University’s mission, theological commitments, and Christian identity are faithfully upheld for future generations.

Meeting three times annually, the Board fulfills its responsibilities by:

• Approving and monitoring institutional strategy and policy

• Providing fiduciary oversight and ensuring responsible financial stewardship

• Appointing, supporting, and evaluating the University president

• Safeguarding the University’s foundational documents (identity, mission, vision, core values, philosophy of Christian education, and Statement of Faith)

• Supporting long-term sustainability and long-range planning

Trustees bring diverse professional experience and leadership expertise to their service. Each trustee affirms the University’s Statement of Faith and demonstrates a personal commitment to Christian faith, integrity, and active engagement in the life of the Church.
