200 frogs invade Huntington University’s campus

Huntington, Ind.-Approximately 200 frogs have invaded the Huntington University campus.

Twenty students in an animation course created the frogs out of foam core and steel wire for a project inspired by a commercial for Sony's Bravia (R) high-definition TV. The commercial features rabbits formed out of a clay-like substance overrunning a city.

From 2 to 5 p.m. today through Friday, the students will film the frogs beginning at Becker Hall by the fountain and then disperse into teams from there. Each team will have 25 to 30 brightly-colored frogs ranging in size from three to six feet. Teams also will include volunteers and students assisting with camera operation.

Once completed, uses for the film have yet to be determined, though it is likely to be used in admissions efforts.

The project came out of the university's digital media arts program. The course title is "Animation II: Advanced Traditional Media," and the purpose is to give students "an immersive experience in stop-motion animation and drawn animation."
