Huntington named one of ‘America’s Top Colleges’ by Forbes

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University has been named one of "America's Top Colleges" by Forbes.

In the results released this week, Huntington was ranked in the top 16 percent of all colleges and universities across the nation.

According to Forbes, the rankings are based on five general categories: post graduate success (30 percent), which evaluates alumni pay and prominence; student satisfaction (27.5 percent), which includes professor evaluations and freshman to sophomore year retention rates; debt (17.5 percent), which penalizes schools for high student debt loads and default rates; four-year graduation rate (17.5 percent); and competitive awards (7.5 percent), which rewards schools whose students win prestigious scholarships and fellowships like the Rhodes, the Marshall and the Fulbright. Forbes' Center for College Affordability and Productivity conducts the evaluation.

This is the fourth year for the Forbes rankings. The rankings are available online at http://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/.

On its 2011 list, U.S. News & World Report ranked Huntington was ranked eighth overall in the 2011 edition of the magazine's guide to "America's Best Colleges," and fifth in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category for best-value colleges in the Midwest. Huntington was also recently named a "Best Midwestern College" by the Princeton Review.
