October Leadership Luncheon explores becoming a leader

Huntington, Ind. - Huntington University's Leadership Luncheon will take the examples of Gideon from the Bible to explore becoming a leader. The luncheon will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 27.

The Rev. Luther Whitfield, senior director of urban ministries for the Fort Wayne-area Youth for Christ, will speak about the injustices in the world and how to deal with them and ultimately overcome them. His address is titled, "From a Loser to a Leader."

"As a leader, we are called to respond to injustice like Gideon," said Whitfield, who is also the senior pastor of New Covenant Worship Center in Fort Wayne. "And like Gideon, we are called not to merely formulate to the environment, but as leaders, we are called to help bring change."

The luncheon, sponsored by the Huntington University Center for Leadership, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The cost is $10 per person - a reduced price this year. The luncheon is open to the public.
