Senior awarded Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship for second year

HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Huntington University Women's Auxiliary Scholarship award of $1,250 has been granted to senior Luke Batdorff of Bluffton, Ind., for the second consecutive year.

Inducted into the Huntington University Alpha Chi Honor Society for the 2013-14 school year, he served as treasurer and will serve as president next year. While attending the Alpha Chi National Conference recently, he presented a paper titled, "An Analysis of the Euler Method" and was a runner-up for the Region V Alpha Chi scholarship.

This year, he participated in the National Putnam Exam where he received a score of 20, ranking him near 500th out of more than 4,000 competitors.

A mathematics-computer science major, Batdorff is completing his internship with Parkview Hospital. Upon graduation he plans to pursue graduate studies in the field of mathematics.

Established in 1973 by Elba Kriegbaum, the HU Women's Auxiliary Scholarship is an endowed fund. An annual contribution or $750 along with memorial gifts is made to the principal by contributory auxiliary members of the Huntington community, past and present Huntington University personnel and the Women's Ministry organizations of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ.
