Annual Longaker Honors Recital to showcase nine student musicians

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- The annual Longaker Honors Recital at Huntington University will showcase nine of Huntington University's top musicians on April 19. The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.Each musician was chosen in a rigorous audition process. The performance includes two pianist, and seven vocalists.
Performers include:
Amy Bishop, a freshman soprano vocal performance major from Auburn, Ind., will be performing "Black Swan" from The Medium and "Hello! Oh, Margaret it's you" from The Telephone. Both are by Gian Carlo Menotti.
Brittany Blazier, a freshman soprano choral education major from Ossian, Ind., will be performing "I Hate Music!" and "A Cycle of Five Kid Songs for Soprano" by Leonard Bernstein.
Meagan Heffner, a junior soprano theater performance major from Reading, Pa., will be performing "in Just Spring, in Spring comes" and "when faces called flowers float out of the ground" from Songs About Spring by Dominick Argento.
Jacob Keefer, a junior tenor Bachelor of Arts music major from Willshire, Ohio, will be performing "Wohin?," "Mein!" and "Der Muller und der Bach" from Die schone Mullerin by Franz Schubert.
Bobae Lee, a freshman pianist pre-med major from Indonesia, will be performing Moonlight Sonata, movement No. 2 by Ludwig von Beethoven.
Brittany Lensing, a senior pianist Bachelor of Arts music major from Cresco, Iowa, will be performing Rhapsody I C major, op.11, No. 3 by Ernst von Dohnanyi.
Philip Slane, a junior baritone choral education major from Huntington, Ind., will be performing "To Music, to becalm his Fever," "Comfort to a Youth that had lost his Love" and "To Anthea who may command him Anything" from Flight for Heaven by Ned Rorem.
Jacob Smith, a freshman tenor choral education major from Berne, Ind., will be performing "Tempo a alfin di muover Guerra," "Spirate pur, Spirate," "Or che le ra dole," "Luoghi sereni e cari" and "Vaghissima sembianza" from 36 Arie di stile antico by Stephano Donaudy.
Courtney Swenson, a senior soprano theater performance major from Landenberg, Pa., will be performing "Con que la lavare," "Vos me matasteis," "De done venis, amore?," and "De los Alamos vengo, madre" by Joaquin Rodrigo.
