Steury appointed to CCCU Advisory Council

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. Cynthia Steury has recently been appointed to serve as a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Advisory Council. The council will assist in the creation of the first CCCU Virtual Center for Faculty Development. Steury serves as assistant dean for faculty development, director of clinical experiences, and associate professor of education in the education department of Huntington College. The CCCU Virtual Center will focus on faculty development and will provide web access for faculty development resources in CCCU schools. Members of the advisory council for this project represent Abilene Christian University, Azusa Pacific University, Bethel College in Minnesota, John Brown University, Union University and Huntington College.
"We have outstanding faculty on our campuses, and the goal of the Virtual Center is to harness some of their expertise and coordinate it in such a way that it can have maximum impact and benefit for others," said Kamela Jones, vice president for communications for the CCCU.
Advisory council members will work to maintain the website by suggesting useful resources for CCCU faculty, attend advisory council meetings once a semester and help plan CCCU Campus-Based Faculty Development Workshops.
Dr. Steury graduated from Huntington College with a degree in elementary education. She earned a Master of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University and a doctorate in elementary education and educational administration from Ball State University. At Huntington College she teaches courses in math methods, children's literature and adolescent literature. She also acts as the curriculum consultant for the Mindscape Program, an education project that assists in bringing local school children to a nature center owned by the College.
