Homework Connection

Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN is seeking to hire several individuals to assist with Homework Connection, a program to help area students in need of Wi-Fi service and/or homework assistance. 

Students able to work with ESL students is a plus.

Applicants may work Monday-Thursday 3:30-5:30 p.m. and on Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. depending upon student class schedule.

We are also interested in hiring one individual to assist with Jr/Sr. High Youth Groups from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.

These providers are responsible for providing case management and skill building services to an assigned caseload. As a Skills Coach/Technician, you will provide services at Bowen Center locations, in the community, schools, and often in clients’ homes. Your caseload may consist of child/adolescent or adult population depending on the location and need. Providers in these roles assist both parents and children with psycho-social skills building practices identified in the clients’ treatment plan. Skills building includes evidence based coping strategies, social skills, developmental life skills and executive functioning skills.

DUTIES:

  • Facilitate clients' learning and development of new skills, improving functionality and independence
  • Ensure clients are linked with other needed healthcare providers
  • Ensure clients are addressing the goals that are important to them and/or their referral source
  • Participate in medical appointments with the organization’s medical staff
  • Ensure clients are making progress and are discharged within an appropriate timeframe
  • Transport clients as needed and appropriate to their care

 

Hours are flexible around client schedules. Due to our partnership with community organizations we require 2-3 days/week to work evenings (end time between 7-8pm). Regular work hours are adjusted to fit this schedule.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Cares for children of members in a positive, safe and enjoyable environment while their parents are using the facility. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on YMCA values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Care for children for family or single parent family members, ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
  2. Builds effective relationships with the members so they feel comfortable when leaving their children with confident and reliable child care providers.
  3. Keeps accurate records of attendance, accident reports, and special needs, as specified by parents.
  4. Follows YMCA policies and procedures as explained in training with the Youth and Family Programs Director and as stated in the employee handbook. Responds to emergencies quickly.
  5. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities with keeping safety a top priority.
  6. Maintins cleanliness of classroom and equipment.
  7. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings.
