Mathematics Majors & Minors
I found more than a degree here; I found guidance, mentorship, and a community. Working directly with professors who were deeply invested in my success pushed me to stretch beyond my comfort zone, fueling both intellectual and spiritual growth. This program played a profound role in shaping the woman I am today.
I realized I wanted to do mathematics when I discovered that, for me, the most fascinating aspects of scientific theories were their susceptibility to mathematical analysis, analysis that reveals what must be true. As I advanced in my education, I increasingly came to value the raw logical power that mathematics brings to scientific reasoning.
I fell in love with mathematics during my first course in college. Ever since that course, I have made it my mission to inspire others to see the beauty in mathematics and become ambassadors for a love of mathematics.
To truly engage the world through mathematical science, you need to experience what you are studying in an up-close and personal way. That’s why practical learning is built into our curriculum.

As a student, you will gain hands-on experience with current industry-standard software to help you adapt and feel prepared for whatever technologies you may encounter in your career. You will also have access to research labs with Windows and Linux servers, dual screen work stations, and two racks of networking equipment that will serve you well.
HU strongly encourages students to complete both internships and independent research studies to further explore your specialized interest. Practical learning experience is built in to help you hone your craft, gain project management skills, collaborate with a team, and equip you in “learning on your own” so you can adapt well to the workplace.
