Collins joins Huntington College Advancement team

Huntington, Ind. " Perry Collins has accepted appointment as a field representative in the Office of Advancement at Huntington College. He is responsible for building relationships for Huntington College in Northeastern Indiana with a special emphasis in promoting the EXCEL Program for Adult Education.

Having the privilege to serve on staff of such a prestigious College is an honor, said Collins. When I graduated from Huntington, I never thought about returning as an employee, but I look forward to the opportunity to represent Huntington College in Northeastern Indiana.

Collins comes to HC with vast experience and skills in strategic and operational planning, public relations, human resource management, project management, relationship and team building, and more. He is qualified by 39 years of military experience and is a recently retired colonel from the Air National Guard, serving as Vice Commander and Chief of Staff of the 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne, Ind.

At his retirement ceremony, Colonel Collins received two significant awards. The late Governor Frank O'Bannon appointed Collins as a Sagamore of the Wabash to express the appreciation of all Hoosiers for his commitment to making Indiana a better place to live and raise a family. The award is the highest honor that the Governor of Indiana bestows.

Collins was also awarded the Legion of Merit for his long and distinguished service to the United States. He was cited for his involvement in negotiations with Turkey and Egyptian officials over the years and for his leadership of recruiting at the Fort Wayne Unit, which resulted in record numbers of enlistments in a very short period of time.

Collins has a bachelor's degree from Huntington College and a master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He graduated from HC with honors and was recognized as an Outstanding Professional by Indiana Wesleyan University.

Highly active in his community, Collins is a founding member, past president and now vice president of the Roanoke Economic Development Organization, chairman of the Roanoke Planning Committee and member of the NIPSCO Citizens Advisory Council. He serves as an adjunct faculty member at Huntington College, Indiana Wesleyan University and Oakland City University and is a past member of the United States Air National Guard Support Council in Washington, D.C.

Collins has also been awarded the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year honor and was selected by the Indianapolis Star/News for the prestigious Eugene C. Pulliman Military Achievement Award.
