Wilson Gallery to exhibit work of visual arts faculty

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University will host the visual arts faculty exhibit from Oct. 15 through Nov. 16 in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The artists' reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16.

The exhibit will feature works by four full-time visual arts faculty as well as adjunct faculty.

W.K. Hopper, associate professor of art and department chair, will contribute recent plein air works from the summer of 2008 as well studio painting completed over the past year. In addition, he will show a group of photos from his January Term trip to Europe.

Rebecca Coffman, professor of art, will exhibit selected pieces in stoneware and porcelain from her 2007 sabbatical in Italy as well as other new works influenced by that experience.

Barb Michel, visiting instructor of art, will show recent work in a variety of media, including photography, graphite and printmaking.

This is the first Huntington University exhibit for Lee Shortridge, assistant professor of art. Shortridge began his role at the university in August.

Adjunct faculty exhibitors include Rebekah Hubley, a Huntington University alumna and professional photographer; Lisa Ricker, another alumna and an art teacher at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Mike Burman, who also serves as an adjunct instructor at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
