Education Department - Student Assistant Coordinator

The Education Department has an opening for a Student Assistant Coordinator.

Approx.15 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 3 hrs. per day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Answer incoming calls, welcome guests, manage student workers, complete tasks as assigned by Director.

Education Department - Student Assistant

The Education Department has 3 openings for a Student Assistant.

Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 5 - 10 hours depending on student schedule.

Answering calls, welcoming visitors, complete projects assigned by Assistant Coordinator and Director.

Microsoft WORD and EXCEL required. Must be able to work in team environment, make decisions, solve problems, plan, prioritize and organize work.  Ability to create and edit written reports, uphold confidentiality.

Summer Greenhouse Assistant

The Biology & Agriculture Department has an opening for 3 summer greenhouse assistants.

Start 4/29/24 and ends 8/23/24.  $10.00 per hour, approx.10 hours per week, mornings.

Providing daily care to plants in HU Greenhouse, watering, plant propogation, cleaning, and assisting in cre for the animal residents of the greenhouse.

Prior experience working with plants, especially any prior greenhouse experience, is preferred, but not required.

Summer Field & Greenhouse Worker

The Department of Agricultural Studies has an opening for a SUMMER FIELD & GREENHOUSE WORKER.

Starting 4/29/24 through 8/16/24.  $12.00 per hour - approx 40 hours per week.

Forester Farms: Oversee sweet corn and assist with other crop production enterprises, including planting, care, scouting, and harvest of crops at HU field research and production sites (Thornhill and Hiner). Duties may include (but not limited to) assisting HU staff with mowing, field and plot maintenance, planting, fertilizing, data collection, weed control, harvesting, etc. May occasionally assist HU staff and student workers with activities at Forester Farms’ animal production facilities or at campus garden. Some weekend hours will be scheduled.
Greenhouse: Care of greenhouse plants (watering, fertilizing, planting and other duties as directed by HU staff). Feeding and care of greenhouse animals (fish, reptiles, etc.)
Other: Help HU Ag staff with organizing and conducting summer camps and external events such as field days, parades, etc. May help conduct a research project involving field crops. Opportunities will be sought to work with outside companies to gain experience counting for an ag internship (AG495).

Must posses valid driver's license and have ability to operate self-propelled mower and farm tractor.  Ability to lift 50 - 100lbs.

Must be pursuing a degree or finishibng a degree in agriculture at HU (minor or major).

Student Lab Worker - Nursing Department

The Nursing Department has an opening for a lab worker.

Starting 9/5/23 through 4/26/2024 - $8.25 per hour.

Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the coordinator of the simulation and resource center, assisting students practicing nursing skills, set-up - restocking - cleaning the simulation and resource center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Senior Nursing Student in good academic standing.
  • Ablility to follow instructions and work independently. 
  • Must have good communication skills and competency in nursing skills

ITS Student Receptionist

The Information and Technology department has 2 openings this FALL for ITS Student Receptionist.

Approx. 10 hours per week, Monda - Friday between 8 am and 5 pm.  $8.25 per hour.

Greet guests that arrive in IT services and assess their needs, assist students with connecting devices to wifi and printers.  Create and assign Help Desk tickets as needed.  Assist IT Services Office Manager as needed.

Basic computer skills, ability to communicate will in person and over the phone, good written communication.

Ability to install printers on student computers and connect computers and other devices to wireless network.

Student Manager - Men’s Basketball

The Men's Basketball program will be hiring 2 student managers for the upcoming semester.

Approx. 15 hours per week, $9.00 per hour.

Duties include, but are not limited to, set-up and tear down of practice, rebound and assisting in drills in practice when needed, running the scoreboard during practice, picking up and dropping off team meals, laundry, stat keeping, and other duties as assigned.

Must have driver's license, be able to life up to 50 pounds, and ability to work nights and weekends.

Preferred experience either as a student-manager of a previous team or experience in being a part of a sports team.

Athletic Training Assistant/First Aider

The Athletic Office has several openings for Athletic Training Assistants/First Aiders.

Approx. 20 hours per week, $9.00 per hour, start 8/7/23 through second semester.

Monday through Saturday, some weekends and evenings.

Duties include assisting Certified Athletic Trainers with daily injury treatments, cleaning, record keeping, filing, event set up, as well as assisting with rehabilitation/therapy, and emergency first aid.

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required, training for certification will be provided if not already certified.

Summer Residential Conference Assistant (RCA)

The Conferences and Events department has an opening for two SUMMER RESIDENTIAL CONFERENCE ASSISTANTS (RCA).

Start date 5/28/2024 and ending 8/3/2024.  Approx. 40 hours per week.  $9.00 per hour.

Assisting with preparing conference facilities as needed. See job description for additional duties.

Must have lived in residence hall for at least one semester.  Ability to live on campus for summer months.  A minimum of sophomore standing for Fall 2024.  Must be familiar with HU rules and regulations.

EXCEL and WORD required, with technical knowledge of lighting and sound a plus.

Approx. 30 hours per week Monday - Friday.

Duties include answering phones, scanning, and miscellaneous office tasks.

MCA Student Technician

The Technical Coordinator in the Merillat Centre for the Arts has an opening for an MCA Student Technician.

Wage rate is $10.00 per hour, hours vary and are flexible.

Operate sound and lighting boards, program and run ProPresenter video software.  Work various events and activities in Zurcher Auditorium and other locations in MCA and on campus.

Must enjoy working with AV technical equipment, having taken HU AV technical classes a plus.  Technical training in churches and other locations also a plus.

House Manager - Theatre Arts

The Theatre Arts department has an opening for a HOUSE MANAGER.  

Approx. 1-10 hours per week during MCA Event dates.

Starting immediately and working through Spring semester 2024.  $8.25 per hour.

Recruit and train ushers for performance dates, assist patrons, scan tickets, be present on performance dates to handle any issues that arise.

PLEX Worker

The Athletic Department has several openings for PLEX WORKERS for the 2023/24 Fall & Spring Semesters.

Approx. 12 hours per week, mornings, nights, occasional weekends.  $8.25 per hour

Involves front desk check-in, cleaning, laundry, game day staff, communication and supervision.

Ability to work in a team structure, make decisions and solve problems, plan, organize and prioritize work, verbally communicate with persons inside and outside the organization.

Current students only, experience in EXCEL and WORD helpful.

ITS Student Technology Specialist

The Information and Technology Services department has one opening this FALL for an ITS Student Technology Specialist.  

Approx. 10 hours per week, Monday - Friday, during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  $9.00 per hour.

Deliver and set up computer and AV equipment campus-wide, organize the workspace in the IT services workroom, installing, patching, ad upgrading software.

Basic computer skills required with willingness and aptitude to learn additional skills related to technology.

Experience setting up computers and AV Equipment preferred.

Chemistry Lab Assistant

The Chemistry department has several openings for Lab Assistants.

Must have at least one semester of college chemistry, departmental approval, and departmental training. Responsible student leader preferred with solid grades in chemistry, good team leader and ability to follow instructions.

Consists of solution preparation, student assistance during lab sessions, upkeep of stockroom inventory.

Ability to work in a team structure, make decisions, solve problems, plan, organize, and prioritize work. Verbal communication a must, ability to obtain, process, and analyze information/data.

Box Office Assistant

The MCA Box Office has 2 openings for a BOX OFFICE ASSISTANT - start approx. 8/21/23, runs through end of Spring Semester.

Approx. 6 hours per week, weekdays 1-4 p.m. $8.25 per hour. 

Work with public in the office and on the phone, data entry, ticket sales, general office duties. Door sales some evenings and weekends prior to performances. Comfortable working with clients and on a computer.

Freshman/Sophomore preferred, no theatre, DMA, or music students.

Ability to work in team structure, make decisions, solve problems, plan, organize and prioritize work, communicate verbally with persons inside and outside of the organization. Ability to sell or influence others, analyze quantitative data.
