Psychology Majors & Minors
I feel that the courses always made sure to connect the information to real life scenarios, giving us the ability to not only learn the information but allow us to take that information and apply it to our work with others, especially after graduating and moving into the workforce.
The program’s biggest strengths were the people and the pace. Professors were accessible and honest with feedback, classes were small enough to really engage, and the curriculum built solid skills in assessment, data collection, and ethics. I left feeling prepared to step into client work and to keep learning on the job. I genuinely enjoyed my classes because the professors were engaged, fun to learn with, and clearly invested in our growth.
The professors made themselves available and had flexible open office hours if extra assistance was needed or even if you just needed a listening ear. They are open and honest. They truly make the program!
I loved how personal the psychology program was. None of my class sizes were huge which allowed for psych majors to get to know one another, and the professors, especially by senior year.

The psychology department at HU provides opportunities for hands-on, practical experience through a variety of internship and practicum opportunities. From working alongside your professor on a research project over the summer months to connecting with outside professionals in your field of interest, you will build your resume and gain experience ahead of graduation.
While your undergraduate courses will be packed with experiential learning to equip you for your future career, you can also choose to continue your education after graduation. HU offers both a Masters of Arts degree in mental health counseling, as well as a doctoral degree in occupational therapy—both great options for a psychology student pursuing continued education.
