Production Info

Directed by Ryan Long

A play that chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance. Catherine and her friends are dying, it’s true; but theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits—or endanger the lives of those who come after them. Based on the true story of four women who worked for the Radium Dial Company, a watch factory based in Ottawa, Illinois.

THESE SHINING LIVES is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. (

This production runs approximately 90 minutes and is presented without an intermission. It is suitable for all ages but recommended for ages 10+ due to discussions of radium poisoning and death. For more detailed information, e-mail
