Military Students

You served our country. Let us serve you.

At Huntington University, we believe it is a distinct honor to work with those in the armed forces who have chosen HU as the place to earn their degree. As a Yellow Ribbon University, Huntington University offers additional military benefits for veterans, active duty servicemembers, and their families.

What is a Yellow Ribbon University?

The Yellow Ribbon Program was established by the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows institutions of higher learning to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the tuition and fee amounts payable under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

The institution can contribute a specified dollar amount of those expenses, and VA will match the contribution, not to exceed 50% of the difference. To receive the Yellow Ribbon Program benefits, you must be enrolled in an approved program at an institution of higher learning that participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

As a way to say thank you to those serving loyally in the armed forces, Huntington University offers opportunities for military benefits:

CMSgt (ret) J. Tim Tolentino (2007)

“Huntington University was instrumental in positioning me for success as I pursued a college degree. As I transitioned from my military career and began looking for a profession in the civilian workforce, there is no doubt my educational credentials from HU played a part in broadening my career scope. I am currently a project manager for an amazing company, and my military experience, along with my coveted HU degree, allowed me this opportunity. For military members looking to enhance their career objectives and to potentially become competitive, whether moving up in the military ranks or in the civilian workforce, Huntington University will help you get there. Go Foresters!”

MSgt Bridgett Harper (2011)

“I was the first to go to college in my family and I feel it will help my daughter see the importance of attending college as well. When I retire, I plan to use my degree to help me get a civilian job. HU was an amazing school for someone with a busy life. The staff treated me like family and always accommodated my military schedule.”
