Registration and Attendance
Registration and Advising
Registration for students is open until two weeks prior to the first meeting day for a class. Students in the ABSN Program are automatically registered with their cohort.
Although faculty and staff advisors attempt to provide the best available information, the students are ultimately responsible for course selection and construction of their program. It is the students’ responsibility to see that program requirements are met and that the courses for the intended area of concentration are taken in proper sequence.
Class Attendance
Students are expected to attend all classes, clinical, and laboratory sessions. Further, students are expected to be on time, prepared, and active participants in all learning experiences. Attendance is essential for effective participation.
Adding, Dropping and Withdrawing from a Course
Adding a Course
Students may add a course to their schedule in consultation with their academic advisor. A course cannot be added less than two weeks before the start date of the semester/session.
Dropping a Course
Students may drop a course through the fifth day of the semester (prorated for courses that do not meet the entire semester).
Withdrawing from a Course
Students enrolled in in-person, online, or HyFlex courses may withdraw from a course within the designated withdrawal period.
- 15-Week Courses:
Withdrawals are allowed through the end of Week 10. A grade of W will be recorded, with no impact on GPA.
Withdrawals requested after Week 10 result in a grade of WF, which does impact GPA.
- 7-Week Courses:
Withdrawals are allowed through the end of Week 5. A grade of W will be recorded, with no impact on GPA.
Withdrawals requested after Week 5 result in a grade of WF, which does impact GPA.
- 5-Week Courses:
Withdrawals are allowed through the end of Week 3. A grade of W will be recorded, with no impact on GPA.
Withdrawals requested after Week 3 result in a grade of WF, which does impact GPA.
- The withdrawal period will be prorated for courses that do not follow the 15-, 7- or 5-week schedule.
- Students who fail to request a withdrawal will receive an F.
Withdrawal from ABSN Program
To withdraw from the ABSN Program, students must notify the director of the nursing program. Students who do not officially withdraw from the program are given grades of F. Students receiving financial aid must contact the Financial Aid Office regarding the implications on financial responsibilities.
