Bre had the deep conviction from God about going to the Los Angeles area to do her PRIME internship even though she had been fighting that idea for so long. When she made the decision to go, the moment of surrendering everything to God was intimate and special for her. She said, “I will always hold onto that moment forever because of how special it was.”

The process of finding a church home looks different for everyone. If you are from the area, you might simply continue attending the church you have attended growing up, but if you are not from the area, you will find yourself church shopping. Church shopping can be intimidating, but once you find your church home, it is very rewarding.

HU’s sports teams, coaches, and student-athletes all commit to The Forester Cause, a mission statement based on Ephesians 4:12-13, “to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”

I've never been a patient person. I like to be first in line, leading the way, no matter what. Waiting for change to come or an outcome to be settled drives me crazy, so I tend to rush ahead and try to solve the issue by myself, often unsuccessfully. So, if I'm writing a blog post about this, it must mean that all those patience issues are cured, right? Big hint, they aren’t.

Warm and bubbling with passion, Kamphausen enthusiastically told me about the joy she has in her new position: “This is a job I’ve always wanted to do since I graduated from Huntington,” she said with a smile. Kamphausen’s official role in the Center for Spiritual Formation is to foster the spiritual formation of students through day-to-day ministry programs.

Look for anything, even the tiniest excuse, to thank God for today. Even though I despise winter, I must acknowledge the snow looks beautiful, plus once I am used to the cold, spring will feel warmer. I may be tired and unenthusiastic to attend a morning class, but there is something serene about campus at dawn which I would have missed if I slept in.

Often, I find myself praying in my head or under my breath, usually when a thought spontaneously arises or I just need to get the words out then and there. I do think it is important to find time when you can be still and pray without feeling rushed, but it feels nice to spontaneously pray throughout the day.

Prayer focuses the heart and mind, and at Huntington University, our mission is to point to Jesus through our academic performance and service. Therefore, it would make sense that prayer is at the core of life at HU! While prayer occurs all over campus, here are three of the most impactful places where prayer happens.

I have an irrational fear of sharks. Trust me, I know the facts, but I still can’t shake my fear because there is a big difference between knowing and believing. Sadly, head knowledge versus heart belief isn’t just directed at irrational fears.

Walking along my tapestry of decisions, I wonder what my final image will be once I run out of string. Unless my hands are snatched prematurely, I commit to an uncertain design.
